When I first took up the flute on the Greek Island of Hydra in 1970 I used to go up into the forest and play whilst looking down through the pines toward the blue sea melting into the sky in the deep summer heat. There was just the rhythm of cicadas and the distant tinkling of goat bells for percussion with the wind singing in the pines. This was the beginning of my musical journey in this life and to my amazement the audience of wild birds of the forest turned slowly into people. This album is a recreation of that early time when there were no plans for which notes might emerge from that silver tube and each track is born of some particular moment in time when I was available to be its’ own reflection.
